A good fragrance brief: Turning an idea into a development project
Describe your brand
A brief starts with the role the fragrance should play for your brand. Useful details include your audience, price positioning and desired impression: understated, distinctive, fresh or warm. Reference fragrances can help the discussion; it is equally useful to describe what you want to avoid.
Specify the application
The fragrance will be used in a particular product. Tell us early whether you are planning, for example, an eau de parfum, a diffuser or a room spray. Add the target market, planned quantity and a realistic timeline. These details help align development with the documentation your project needs.
Evaluate samples with clear feedback
Specific observations are more useful than a general “I like it” when reviewing initial samples. Describe which facet should become more prominent or more subtle, and how the fragrance performs in its intended application. Clear version records make the later approval easier to follow.
Use our project enquiry as a starting point for your brief. You do not need to have every detail decided yet. Explore fragrance development and creating your own perfume brand.
