IFRA: Why the application and document version belong together
Define the application first
An eau de parfum, a room spray and a reed diffuser differ in how they are used. Assessing a fragrance oil therefore requires the specific product type and intended dosage. The IFRA Standards address the safe use of fragrance ingredients and distinguish between application categories.
Put current developments in context
On 31 August 2026, IFRA published its end-of-consultation letter for the 52nd Amendment. According to that update, formal notification of the final Standards is expected in January 2027. In October 2026, the 52nd Amendment should therefore not be presented as already fully in force. The implementation periods in the letter start from the later formal notification.
Keep approvals traceable
A clear project record connects the fragrance version, intended use, dosage and supporting documents. When the formula changes, review which documents need updating. IFRA documentation forms part of that review; additional requirements for the finished product must also be considered.
